Hemingford School System:

Courses offered in the high school include computer, business, independent living, home economics, nutrition,
shop, agriculture, business math, law, and accounting. Adult educational programs are available in the high
school in cooperation with the Western Nebraska Community College. Internet is available to the school by the
Educational Service Unit 12.

Community College:
Hemingford is part of the Western Nebraska Community College Area which encompasses 12 1/2 counties. The
area is governed by an 11-member board of Governors elected by the area served.
Campus facilities are operated at Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) located in nearby (60 miles)
Scottsbluff with college centers at Sidney and Alliance. College offerings are available in all Panhandle
communities with specific needs.
Programs of interest to local businesses and industries include the Independent Learning Center, Adult Basic
Education, Career Assessment Center, and education programs in: Accounting, Business Administration,
Clerk-Typist, Elementary and Secondary Education, General Studies, Human Services, Practical Nursing,
Railroad Operations, Secretarial, and Transfer Initiatives. In addition, Chadron State College, in a cooperative
effort with WNCC, offers upper division classes leading to baccalaureate and masters degrees.
Colleges:
Chadron State College, 40 miles north of Hemingford, is a state-supported, four-year
institution and a unit of the Nebraska State College System. Established in 1911, the college is fully accredited by the North Central
Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the
Council on Social Work Education.
